Sketch into Spring #5 Get loose

Well I was looking forward to having a go at, 'Getting Loose', but boy did I find it hard!!  I'm not delighted with what I ended up with, but it's better than the three efforts that are now assigned to the collage box, lol.  It is better with some black pen on it, but, again, I don't like the yellow 'flowers', (very loose interpretation there).  But, (gosh what a but-head I am today, lol :O), I'm glad I had a go, and I will try it again - behind closed shutters that is.
The prompt was to wet down the paper, drop on watercolours so that they bleed around the paper and then when it's dry, make something of it with markers/pen.  I ended up having to cheat a bit and kind of 'draw' some flower type shapes in order to get anything at all that I could work with when dry!  Anyhoo, here is what I did :-

I'm grateful that the next prompt is to 'Fill a page with pattern'.  Yay!  Nice relaxing doodling. Thanks Alisa ;)
I think I may need to get some new watercolours.  I love my pencils but they just aren't adequate for some things (or that could just be me of course), and the wee pans I've got are almost done. Now do I go for pans or tubes? Hmmm.....what do you think?  Bearing in mind I have 20+ more prompts for this class and a new watercolour class starting on Monday.  Thanks in advance for your kind thoughts, *hugs*

Now until next time..........
........thanks for popping by to say 'Hi' *hugs*

  1. Your page looks great, Mo. As a youngster I always painted in watercolour and have only just gone back to it recently. I have tubes but have started using a cheap set of pans that I bought and I have really enjoyed using them.

    1. Thank you Carol. I guess the choice will simply come down to me making a decision, but it's great to hear what other people like to use too, isn't it. So many, (too many?), choices out there. :o)

    1. Thanks ever so much Anne for your kind words. If I could do half the 'hard' challenges that you do, I'd be a very happy bunny :o) xx

  3. Can't say what to use Mo as you are far more advanced than me with watercolours.
I do like using the inks which give a deeper colour but with the effects of watercolour.
As you know I like black fine liners and I like what you've done here. Xxx

  4. Gorgeous flowers Mo, i use Inktense Pencils and Blocks by Derwent. They are very easy to use and you can use them on fabric. If you look on the Derwent site there are videos showing how to use them.

I am a newbie at watercolour, struggle to draw but can use these pencils easily.

The other pencils which are raved about are Neocolour. There are two types one is water soluble, the other is not. Need to investigate more.

Some research for you there! Hope this helps. Thanks for your lovely comment:-) xxx

    1. Thank you so much for your input MOH ;-) I never thought of using my neocolours, tut, silly me :-\ I love my inktense but I struggle to get the fluidity right to blend them like pans of paints. More practice needed of course. I'm not confident in my painty side anyway, so jump from medium to medium trying them out. 'Ants in your pants' my old gran used to say, 'never settle at one thing' haha ;-) Thank you so much for your visit and valuable input xox
